“Good artists copy, great artists steal." -Pablo Picasso

I was told that the best way to perfect my craft, is to study and mimic artists who are doing what you want to do. I spend a great deal of time browsing other artists pages, many of the artist I find are through social media platforms like Instagram and Pinterest. I am a firm believer in researching and staying up to date with the climate of photography and art in general. One great way to research is to find photographers that shoot the subject matter you are most interested in shooting. I have compiled a list of a few photographers I have been watching lately, and I hope that maybe this will help your journey for finding inspiration.  (Also, I am adding in a few colleagues’ websites. They constantly inspire, motivate, and push me as a photographer.)

Photo Inspiration - Where do I go?

If you are feeling stuck, these tips might help you break through your creative block.

If you are anything like me, you have moments where you are stuck and need a little “push” to get you through. Lately, I have been having these “brain-freeze” moments more than usual because of my busy schedule as a full-time student and part time worker. I have found that browsing through Pinterest, using specific keywords, has helped me a tremendous amount for sparking new ideas. If Pinterest isn’t really your thing and your inspiration derives from being out into the world, I recommend going to art shows, specifically Opening Nights and Artist Talks. You can essentially find inspiration and network at the same time. Joining photo communities like 500px and Instagram are also great platforms to follow and look at other photographers’ works.

I have several different boards for different themes, concepts, emotions, etc. I even use Pinterest to convey ideas to models and clients.
