Food for an Artist

Coming up with ideas for projects, assignments, or freelance work can be difficult, especially if you are like me (juggling a part-time job, volunteer work, leadership roles, and freelance work). I am a little scattered-brain (okay maybe a lot), so it is always difficult for me to settle on just one idea. To help me combine ideas (or to create ideas) into one I tend to browse through some of my favorites websites. Because I know the struggle of pinning down ideas, or in my case one idea, here are my top 2 resources (in no particular order):

CreativeBloq

Creative Bloq delivers a daily balance of creative tips and inspiration across web design, graphic design, 3D and more. Bringing the very best design work to our audience and offering the insight that enables them to keep up to date with the latest trends and developments in global design and to create their best work.

Tuts+

Envato Tuts+ offers video courses and written tutorials to help you learn creative skills in code, design and illustration, photography, video, music, web design, game development, craft, and more. Envato Tuts+ tutorials are available to you completely free—all 21,000 of them!. Based around specific projects, they include step-by-step written instructions and screenshots to help you practice and master the skills needed to create a practical outcome.

Behind the Shoot: belladonna magazine

Hello guys!

So this is Day 2 of my blogging experience (2 day streak, go me!), and I am excited to share my very first experience as a stylist for belladonna magazine. I've always been intrigued by fashion and knew that I would hold a career that was fashion-related. However, after several failed attempts at sewing I thought that this goal was impossible until I began to find my voice through graphic design and photography. I really began to see my potential when I became the Art Director for belladonna. Through this platform I began to explore fashion more through photography, concepts and styling. Today, is the day that I can now add stylist to my skill sets thanks to Macaah Davis, the founder and editor of this publication.

This is shoot was inspired by the color of the universe (and yes the universe has it own special color). Cosmic Latte is similar to the color beige. I don't want to give too much away from this issue, but I will leave a behind the scene shot of one of my favorite looks.
